Arriving at Basel during the night, we disembarked the boat , and commenced with a walking tour of Basel city centre. Basel itself has a lot of construction going on but is as expected an older town that still has charm with hills to walk up.
A nice lunch in Basel , which highlighted Switzerland is an expensive country, followed by a shorter bus trip to Zurich for check-in to the Sheraton hotel.
Day 2 was for us a city tour and lake boat ride followed by free walk around town. Andrew and Julie did the Lint factory and a train trip to Lucerne , which was a very good day.
Day 3 a nice slow start then heading to the airport onward to Budapest!
Town Hall, still in use
Basel is a fairly hilly place, with lots of narrow streets
Older buildings throughout, but also a lot of construction
Zurich
Zurich, a nice city felt a bit like Canberra though a bit soulless with a high population of bankers and politicians/ public servants.
